A young entrepreneurial group from Utrecht has developed a new concept for a holiday park using Tiny Houses. The first 30 Tiny Houses have now been purchased from a factory in Eastern Europe.
In a nutshell, that is the idea of TinyParks: luxury and sustainable tiny houses in beautiful destinations, to escape the busy city for a few days in nature. In April, the first TinyParks location with a total of 16 accommodations will open their gates at the Drents-Friese Wold National Park. Bookings can be made from January onwards. Drenthe is of course beautiful because of its nature, but in this province, initiatives like this are also welcomed with open arms by MKB Fonds Drenthe, an investment fund for innovative companies. "It will be the ultimate camping experience," co-owner and developer Jochem Verheul calls it.

Verheul sees plenty of opportunities for Tiny Houses in the leisure sector: "There are many holiday parks with fixed annual pitches and beautiful locations that are only open three or four months a year, we want to help them with this concept." TinyParks aims to give existing leisure entrepreneurs a new boost, by making the cottages available without an investment from the current entrepreneur and then doing the bookings and marketing for them. "The entrepreneurs then share in the proceeds from the booking," he says. The prices of the cottages will be between 125 and 180 euros per night, depending on the number of people and whether it is high or low season."

Editorial: "We see strong growth of Tiny House concepts in the Netherlands. The Droomparken chain is also taking off with this concept. There, the Tiny House communities are part of a larger park with several types of accommodation and more extensive central facilities. Because it is still a relatively young market, we see differences in the interpretation of the concept. We are curious to see which concepts will catch on best."
