Tiny houses: you see them popping up more and more often. But did you know that they are also ideal as solution to temporary housing shortage within healthcare? TINY is a Dutch importer of sustainable tiny houses, built on a trailer. These smart homes range from 14 to 24 square metres of living space. Some are ground floor, others have a sleeping loft. Where building plans are delayed, in the meantime the land can already be used and occupied thanks to the tiny houses From TINY.
Imagine: you have a piece of land as a care institution and the zoning plan has been adopted, but construction is delayed. What a shame, of course, that all that space remains unused for so long. TINY thought so too, and so in 2022 they came up with the idea to tiny houses offer ls temporary residential use within care. The cottages are used not only for the needy, but also for the people around them - for example, by specially equipped tiny's for family members to be placed around hospitals.
Cost sharing
The advantage is that you have such a tiny house on wheels time and again to a different piece of land. But then you do need to have the means to purchase one. That is why TINY now wants to set up a platform launch where supply and demand of temporary tiny houses in healthcare are brought together. This will allow agencies to share costs.
One of the initiators says: "From clients within youth care and family homes, we hear about rising waiting lists, overcrowded group accommodation and clients who have to leave care homes too early because fees stop. We think it's incredibly nice that thanks to their purchased tiny houses still be able to do something for these people now, but realise all too well that there are still 900 family homes and 320 youth care agencies for whom tiny houses purchasing is not an option. Therefore, we now want to map all flexible residential care needs within the healthcare sector and connect organisations through one platform."
Overview of supply and demand
Some agencies will need temporary accommodation immediately, others not for another year. By clearly mapping this out, TINY aims to reduce the investment in tiny houses more accessible. Bodies will soon be able to make arrangements among themselves before purchasing: they will see exactly which organisations would be interested in taking over the tiny's the moment they become redundant with them. They can then connect with each other through the platform and close a deal.
The platform
thus does not ensure second-hand sales tiny houses. However, TINY can assist with matters such as valuation, relocation and permits. Does this sound like the solution for temporary housing shortage within your healthcare institution? Then register now at www.tiny.nl. As soon as TINY receives enough applications, the realisation of the platform will start. The platform will go live two months later.
